It nestles 85.3kms Southeast of Cebu City. This municipality is used to be called as “Kogtong” which means a big fish that was said to dwell in a spring in the center of the town. When the Spaniards arrived, they renamed the place Alcantara after a town in Spain. It became a municipality in 1830 as it separated from adjacent towns of Ronda and Moalboal. |
