It is 117 kilometers away from Cebu City and a neighboring town of the famous Kawasan Falls in Badian, Cebu. Alegria has a total population of 20,677 people according to 2000 Census. It is situated in the southwestern part of Cebu Island and the municipalities of Badian (north), Dalaguete, Boljoon and Alcoy (east), Malabuyoc (south) and Tanon Strait (south) bound it.
