ASTURIAS

Bounded by the Municipality of Tuburan on the north; Balamban in the south; City of Danao on the east and on the west by Tañon Strait.  The town’s original name is “Naghalin” which is derived from the Cebuano term “lalin” that refers to early settlers that came from far away places.  It was changed to Asturias when the folks petitioned to Spanish rulers to grant their own local government since the number of settlers and population is growing.  The petition was granted in the late 1700 by the King of Spain, thereby creating it as a pueblo or town.  Asturias is politically subdivided into 27 barangays as 7 barangays are coastal and the other 20 are situated inland.
