MALABUYOC

This home of friendly and hospitable people is situated 126kms Southwest of Cebu.  It has a total land area of 7,516.71 hectares and has 14 barangays.  Malabuyoc is bounded by the municipality of Alegria on the North; on the South by the Municipality of Ginatilan; Municipality of Boljoon on the East; and on West by Tañon Strait.
According to legend, the town got its name when there were Spanish visitors who were amazed of what the cook did. When one of the visitors asked the villagers of what he is doing, the villagers do not have the same language with them and just confusedly answered “Mala pagka Buyoc” (in dialect).  For this reason, the village has been named Malabuyoc, which was believed to be its first name before it became into a municipality.
