The municipality has a total land area of 5,325.84 hectares and belongs to a 5th class municipality in the province of Cebu. Ronda is 81.5kms away from Cebu City and is located in the Southwest coast of Cebu province. Holoyaw was the original name of Ronda because there were abundant banana plant called holoyaw grow in the area. It was changed to Ronda during the Spanish Era when the Spaniards took advantage of the friendly attitude of the natives and asked to better change the village name to Ronda. They told the natives that the village was flaked by two uplands of Libo-o Hill and Cambun-an Hill a site to a place called Ronda in Spain. The chieftain and his counselors accepted the idea, thus Ronda became the name of the town. |
