Set at the southern tip of Cebu and approximately 134.34kms away from Cebu City. Santander was originally a visita of the parish of Boljoon. Before old folks called the place as Tañong, named after Tañon Strait, in which the town is also strategically located. Later on, it was renamed to Santander because of the recommendation of a Spanish friar who hailed in Santander, Spain. In addition, Santander belongs to a 5th class municipality which is politically subdivided into 10 barangays. |
