TALISAY CITY

 
 

Basked in the beautiful coast of Cebu Province and is the first city located 12 kilometers away from the Southwest of Cebu City.  Talisay City got its name from the Magtalisay Trees that are endemic in the municipality whilst some accounts said that it got its name from a town in Spain.   In addition, it was formerly an estate or hacienda of the Augustinians and was a visita of San Nicolas.  This progressive city in the Queen City of the South is renowned for its tasty “Inasal Baboy” (Roasted Pig).  During American colonial period and World War II, the town of Talisay was used as a haven of colonial military forces and the center of guerilla intelligence operations.

 
   
   
     
SEE AND VISIT
  Crocolandia  
      Situated in the barangay of Biasong, Talisay City, Cebu.  Crocolandia features over a hundred different species of animals from massive crocodiles to beautiful birds and snakes.  It is a great and safe place to explore animal kingdom with your family especially your kids because it will totally blow you away. In addition, the area is very well planned, thus providing a cool environment.

Sta. Teresa de Avila Parish Church    
   

It has one of the unique Greco-Roman churches not just in the Queen City of the South but as well as in the country.  The structure of the church is made of coral stones and as for the facade is concerned changes have been made to emphasize more its beauty.  Sta. Teresa de Avila Parish Church is situated in the barangay of Poblacion, fronting the Old City Hall.

Talisay Landing Site  
    Set in the serene coast of barangay Poblacion.  Talisay Liberation Park is where the American Forces, who were then in contact with Filipino counterparts, made their historic landing.

Liberation Park  
    It is a favorite hangout hub among Talisaynons and other visitors of the city.  Liberation Park was built to give relevance to the Talisay landing and for those Filipinos and Americans, who shed blood to free the province of Cebu from the Japanese colonization.

Dep Ed Museum  
    The museum was established to let the younger generations to cherish and remember the  beauties, legacies and the bounties of the past proud race of Talisaynons (locals of Talisay). It is found within the vicinity of Talisay City Central School.    
  Talisay City Hall  
      One of the tourist spots in Talisay City.  It boasts with elegance and has spacious areas that will truly impress everyone.    
  Funland  
      An entertainment center with exclusive racetrack that is suitable for all ages.  It is safe which will totally give you absolute enjoyment.    
Talisay City College and DepEd  
    Basked in the sleepy barangay of Poblacion, Tallisay City, Cebu.  Talisay City College and DepEd edifices were the former City Hall of the city before it transferred to a much bigger area in Brgy. Mohon.

     Located in the expanse of Talisay City Hall.  It is one of the biggest government structures of the City.    
                                     
SWIM / DIVE
  Lagundi Reef  
      One of the best diving sites if not in the province in Cebu but in the country as well.  Lagundi Reef is the newest addition of astonishing diving sites in the Philippines.  It is an underwater paradise that is teeming with wide array of marine life, stunning wrecks and wall that will surely amaze you.  It is located in the seas of Poblacion, Talisay City, which is only 10 minutes away from the seashore.    
         
  Aqua Cainta  
      This popular swimming destination in the City of Talisay has awesome environs and cool swimming pools with fantastic slides.  It is an ideal place for the whole members of the family.    
         
  Villa Teresita  
      One of the most widely known resorts in the city.  Villa Teresita is a favorite haven among pool lovers and locals because of its numerous and enormous pools that have coil slides.    
         
  Poblacion Public Beaches  
      It is the favorite getaway among local beach bums.  Everything is affordable from cottage rents to food and drinks.  Thus, making it a perfect place to visit when you want to have fun in the sun!    
         
                                       
WATCH
  Halad Festival  
      It is a yearly offering festivity devoted to Sta. Teresa de Avila, the city’s patron saint.  This festival is held every 15th day of October and it will display multihued costumes of the participants that comes from different barangays of the city.    
         
  Inasal Festival  
      The festival will display numerous lechons (roasted pig) that clad in different colorful outfits.  And it will be paraded in the streets of Talisay.     
  American Landing Reenactment  
      It depicts the re-enactment of the American forces landing in the shores of Talisay City.  The re-enactment gives you thrill and total fun as there will be harmless “bombing” explosions and mock bullet exchange.

Gaisano Grand Fiesta Mall  
    The only massive mall in the city.  Gaisano Grand Fiesta Mall can be compared to the popular malls in Cebu City as it keeps getting bigger and better.  Thus, providing all your needs from food/s to services to other dry goods.  The parking lot of the said mall is very spacious that is enough to accommodate over a hundred vehicles.

    If you want to have a low cost shopping, then Tabunok Public Market is the right place to be.  There are various stalls in every corner of the place that sell affordable stuffs e.g. RTW clothes, used second hand clothing, bags, sandals and shoes (Ukay-Ukay in local dialect). In addition, you can ask for a discount whilst buying in here.
